Shipping Modes Setting

Purpose

This article explains how Admins configure Shipping Modes in the Thulo Logistics Module.

A Shipping Mode defines how a shipment is transported, such as air, sea, road, or express. Shipping Modes are selected during shipment creation and are commonly used together with tariffs, delivery time, and logistics services.

What Shipping Modes Are Used For

Shipping Modes are used to:

  • Define available transportation options

  • Indicate how a shipment will be delivered

  • Support pricing and delivery expectations when combined with:

    • Tariff Rules

    • Shipping Time

    • Logistics Service

Shipping Modes themselves do not calculate charges.


Where Shipping Modes Appear

Once configured, Shipping Modes appear as selectable options in:

  • Create Shipment

  • Create Locker Package (if enabled)

  • Create Consolidation (where applicable)

They may also appear in:

  • Shipment details

  • Tracking and delivery information


Step-by-Step: Add a Shipping Mode

Step 1: Navigate to Shipping Modes Settings

Go to Logistics → Settings → Shipping Modes.

Step 2: Add Shipping Mode Information

Enter the required details, such as:

  • Shipping mode name (e.g. Air, Sea, Road, Express)

  • Optional description or notes

Use names that clearly reflect real delivery methods.


Step 3: Save the Shipping Mode

Click Save to create the shipping mode.

After saving:

  • The shipping mode becomes available during shipment creation

  • Staff can select it when processing shipments


Important Rules to Know

  • Shipping Modes are tenant-wide

  • They do not directly calculate pricing

  • Existing shipments are not affected if Shipping Modes are changed

  • Permissions control who can create or edit Shipping Modes


Best Practices

  • Create Shipping Modes that match your real services

  • Keep mode names simple and consistent

  • Align Shipping Modes with tariffs and delivery times

  • Avoid overlapping or unclear modes


Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using Shipping Modes to represent courier companies

  • Expecting Shipping Modes to apply pricing automatically

  • Creating too many similar modes

  • Renaming modes after shipments are created

This data is used for the “Service Mode" field in the creation page of Locker Package, Shipment, Consolidated. And it is also used for Default shipping info in Settings

  1. Create Shipping Mode - Step 1. Go to Settings menu under the Logistics module on the left sidebar.  Step 2. Select the Shipping Modes menu and click on Add Shipping Mode button. - Step 3. In the New Shipping Mode popup, fill in the required fields. - Step 4. Select Save
  2. Update Shipping Mode  To edit a shipping mode: - Step 1. Go to Settings menu under the Logistics module on the left sidebar. - Step 2. Select the Shipping Modes menu. Find and select the shipping mode and click on - Step 3. Make the necessary changes to the shipping mode. - Step 4. Select Save.
  3. Delete Shipping Mode To delete a shipping mode: Step 1. Go to Settings menu under the Logistics module on the left sidebar. - Step 2. Select the Shipping Modes menu and select the shipping mode you want to delete - Step 3. Select - Step 4. Select OK to confirm
