Create Locker Package

Purpose

This article explains how staff create a Locker Package in the Thulo Logistics Module.

A Locker Package represents an individual package received (or expected) by the logistics company and is the starting point for most logistics operations.

Who This Is For

  • Staff

  • Agents

Required Permissions

  • Logistics → Locker Package → Create

  • Logistics → Locker Package → View

When You Should Use This

Create a Locker Package when:

  • A customer pre-alert has been submitted, or

  • A package is received directly by the logistics company (walk-in or manual intake)

Locker Packages are created before shipments and deliveries.

What Happens Before This Step

Before creating a locker package:

  • Admin has configured logistics settings (shipping, tariffs, taxes)

  • A Recipient exists (created by the customer)

  • Optional: A Pre-Alert exists

Step-by-Step: Create a Locker Package

Step 1: Navigate to Locker Package Creation

Go to Logistics → Locker Packages and select Create Locker Package.

  • Package details may be auto-filled

If not:

  • Proceed with manual entry

Only valid pre-alerts can be selected.

Step 4: Review Auto-Calculated Charges

The system automatically applies:

  • Tariff rules (actual vs volumetric weight)

  • Taxes (if configured)

Staff cannot manually edit calculated charges.

Step 5: Save the Locker Package

Click Save to create the locker package.

After saving:

  • The locker package is recorded in the system

  • Invoice generation becomes available

  • Further processing actions are unlocked

What Happens After This Step

After creating a locker package, staff may proceed to:

  • Invoice & payment handling

  • Pickup processing (if required)

  • Consolidation (optional)

  • Shipment creation

Creating a locker package does not complete delivery.

Important Rules to Know

  • Locker packages are the base unit for logistics operations

  • Charges are calculated automatically

  • Status controls what actions are available next

  • Settings changes do not affect existing locker packages

  • Visibility depends on Own vs Global permissions

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Creating locker packages before tariffs are configured

  • Selecting incorrect recipients

  • Expecting locker packages to be delivered without shipment creation

  • Editing packages after processing has started

CREATE A PACKAGE

Step 1. Go to the Settings menu under the Logistics module on the left sidebar → select Taxes -> Enter the corresponding values into the fields under the Taxes settings.

Step 2. Go to Locker Packages menu under Logistic module → select Register Package

Step 3. In the Add Package Shipment, fill in the requested fields. We can create package from invoice or enter manually in Package Information section

  • Subtotal: To calculate subtotal, here's how:

Price = 3.55. and package information as below:

  • Step1. Calculate and determine the volumetric weight and actual weight of each pack

Weight Vol.  = Length * Width * Height / Volume percentage  . Volume percentage 500cm3/kg, this number is configured in Taxes setting.

Pack 1: Weight Vol = 50 * 35 *20 / 500 = 70kg. Actual Weight = 20kg⇒ Chargeable weight is 70 kg

Pack 2: Weight Vol  = 20 * 25 *20 / 500 = 16 kg. Actual Weight = 20kg ⇒ Chargeable weight is 20 kg

  • Step 2. Calculate total weight

Total weight = 70 kg + 20 kg = 90 kg

  • Step 3. Subtotal calculation

Let's say the shipping cost per kg is $3.55/kg (it is pre-configured in the Weight value field in Tax Settings)

Subtotal = Total weight * Shipping cost per kg  = 90kg * 3.55$/kg = 319.5$

  • Discount = Subtotal * Discount %

  • Shipping Insurance = Value assured * Shipping Insurance %

  • Customs Duties = (Total Weight + Total Weight Vol) * Customs Duties %

  • Tax = Subtotal * Tax%.  The condition for calculating tax is Sub total > Minimum cost to apply the tax

Subtotal less than or equal to Minimum cost to apply the tax then tax is not calculated

  • Declared value = Total DecValue * Tax Declared %. The condition to calculate Declared value is Total DecValue > Minimum cost to apply declared tax

Total DecValue less than or equal to Minimum cost to apply declared tax then Declared value is not calculated

  • Fixed charge = total of Fixed charges on Package Information

  • Total = Subtotal + Shipping Insurance + Customs Duties + Tax + Declared Value + Reissue + Fixed charge – Discount

Step 4. When you’re done, select Save

CREATE MULTIPLE PACKAGE
