Lead Telephone Requirement Settings
Purpose
The Lead Telephone Requirement Settings screen allows administrators to control whether the Telephone field is mandatory when creating or importing Leads within Thulo Marketing Automation.
This setting helps organizations enforce data collection standards based on their business requirements. Organizations that rely heavily on phone-based communication can require a telephone number, while others may allow Leads to be created without phone information.
The setting affects Lead creation processes throughout the Marketing Automation module.

This screen is used to configure a system setting rather than create records.
View
To view the current Telephone Requirement setting:

Navigate to the Lead Telephone Requirement Settings screen.

Review the current configuration.

Verify whether the Telephone field is set as:

Required

Optional

Edit
To modify the Telephone field requirement:

Navigate to the Lead Telephone Requirement Settings screen.

Select the desired option.
-
Save the configuration.
The updated setting is applied to future Lead creation activities.
Delete
Not applicable.
This screen manages system settings and does not contain deletable records.

Workflow Rules
Telephone Required
When the setting is enabled:

The Telephone field becomes mandatory.

Users cannot save a Lead record without entering a telephone number.

Form submissions, imports, and Lead creation processes must include a valid telephone value where applicable.
Telephone Optional
When the setting is disabled:

The Telephone field becomes optional.

Leads can be created without a telephone number.
-
Users may enter telephone information later if needed.
Lead Creation Validation
During Lead creation, the system checks the Telephone Requirement setting.
If Telephone is required:

The system validates the Telephone field.

If the field is empty, the Lead cannot be saved.
-
The user must provide a value before continuing.
If Telephone is optional:

The Lead can be saved with or without a telephone number.
-
No validation error is generated for an empty Telephone field.
Important Notes

This setting applies to future Lead creation activities.

Existing Leads are not affected when the setting is changed.

Organizations that use SMS Marketing are encouraged to require telephone numbers to improve communication coverage.

Organizations that primarily use Email Marketing may choose to make the Telephone field optional.

The Telephone Requirement setting helps maintain consistent Lead data quality across the Marketing Automation module.

Changes to this setting take effect immediately after saving.
