Route Points
Purpose
The Route Points screen allows administrators to create and manage attendance checkpoints used for route-based attendance tracking.
Route points represent physical locations where employees are authorized to perform check-in and check-out activities while following assigned work routes. These locations can be linked to customers, workplaces, or standalone locations.
When route-based attendance is enabled, employees must be within the configured radius of an assigned route point to successfully record attendance.
Route points are commonly used for:
-
Field service operations
-
Sales visits
-
Customer site visits
-
Delivery operations
-
Mobile workforce management
-
Multi-location attendance tracking
Route points serve as the building blocks of employee work routes and are used in route assignment and attendance validation.

Workflow Rules
Route Point Rules
-
Route points represent attendance checkpoints within a work route.
-
Route points can be linked to customers, workplaces, or standalone locations.
-
Route points are used during route assignment and route-based attendance validation.
Relate To Rules
Customer
When Customer is selected:
-
The customer address is automatically populated into the Address field.
-
The route point becomes associated with the selected customer.
This relationship may also be used for customer attendance notifications when enabled.
Workplace
When Workplace is selected:
-
Workplace latitude and longitude values are automatically populated.
-
The route point becomes associated with the selected workplace.
Optional Relationship
If no relationship is selected:
-
The route point functions as an independent attendance location.
-
Address and coordinate information must be entered manually.
GPS Coordinate Rules
Administrators can configure coordinates in two ways:
Manual Entry
-
Enter Latitude and Longitude manually.
Get Coordinates
-
Click Get Coordinates.
-
GPS services must be enabled.
-
The system retrieves the current geographic coordinates.
Attendance Validation Logic
During route-based attendance:
-
The system identifies the assigned route point.
-
The employee's current location is obtained.
-
The distance between the employee and the route point is calculated.
-
The configured radius is validated.
Radius Validation Rules
If:
-
Distance between employee and route point ≤ Configured Radius
Then:
-
Attendance is allowed.
If:
-
Distance between employee and route point > Configured Radius
Then:
-
Attendance is denied.
Check-In / Check-Out Behavior
Successful route attendance requires:
-
Route attendance enabled.
-
Employee assigned to a route containing the route point.
-
Employee physically located within the route point radius.
When all conditions are met:
-
Check-in is allowed.
-
Check-out is allowed.
Route Attendance Priority Rules
If both:
-
Route-Based Attendance
-
Workplace-Based Attendance
are enabled,
and the employee has:
-
An assigned route for the day
-
An assigned workplace
then:
-
Route-based attendance validation takes precedence over workplace validation.
Customer Notification Rules
If:
-
The route point is related to a Customer
-
Customer attendance notifications are enabled
then:
-
Customers may receive notifications when employees check in or check out at the route point.
Employee Assignment Rules
-
Creating a route point does not automatically assign it to employees.
-
Route points must be included in a work route before employees can use them for attendance.
-
Multiple routes can reference the same route point.
Status Behavior
Route Point Validation Status
| Condition | Result |
|---|---|
| Employee Within Radius | Attendance Allowed |
| Employee Outside Radius | Attendance Denied |
| Route Point Assigned to Route | Available for Attendance Validation |
| Route Point Not Assigned to Route | Not Used in Attendance Validation |
Relationship Status
| Relate To Value | System Behavior |
|---|---|
| Customer | Customer address automatically populated. |
| Workplace | Workplace coordinates automatically populated. |
| None | Manual address and coordinates required. |

Important Notes
-
Route Points require Allow Attendance by Route to be enabled before they can be used for attendance validation.
-
Employees must be assigned to routes that contain the route point before attendance validation can occur.
-
The configured radius determines how close an employee must be to successfully perform attendance actions.
-
GPS services may be required when using the Get Coordinates feature.
-
Route-based attendance takes precedence over workplace-based attendance when both methods are enabled and applicable.
-
Customer-related route points can be used for customer attendance notifications.
-
Accurate address and coordinate information is essential for successful attendance validation.
-
Deleting a route point may affect route assignments and attendance processing for employees using that location.
-
Route points should be reviewed periodically to ensure location information remains accurate and operational.
