Sending Set Password Links to Contacts

This article explains how to utilize the "Set Password Link" feature in Thulo Cloud to allow your contacts to create their passwords.

When to Use Set Password Links:

• New Contacts: When creating a new contact, you can grant them the ability to set their password by checking the "Send SET password link" field instead of manually setting a password yourself.
  
• Existing Contacts: You can also send a password reset link to an existing contact by editing their profile and checking the "Send SET password link" field.

Important Notes:

• Leave the password field blank when using the "Send SET password link" option.
• The link sent to the contact will expire after 48 hours for security reasons.
• Ensure your Thulo Cloud system has a properly configured email SMTP for this feature to function.

Benefits of Set Password Links:

• Improved Security: Encourages contacts to create strong passwords without needing them to be shared directly.
• Convenience: Allows contacts to set their passwords at their own convenience.
• Reduced Risk of Forgotten Passwords: Contacts can easily reset their passwords if forgotten.

Steps to Send Set Password Link:

1. For New Contacts:

   • While creating a new contact, locate the field labeled "Send SET password link".
     
   • Check this box and leave the password field empty.
   • Save the new contact.

2. For Existing Contacts:

   • Open the profile of the existing contact you want to send a reset link to.
   • Locate the field labeled "Send SET password link".
     
   • Check this box and save the contact information.

Additional Considerations:

• You might want to communicate to your contacts about their upcoming password setup upon sending them the set password link.
