Purpose
Invoice Mapping defines how invoice amounts are recorded into accounting accounts in SmartBooks.
This mapping ensures invoice values coming from billing are posted to the correct accounts for reporting and reconciliation.
How to Access

Go to SmartBooks

Click Settings
-
Open Mapping Setup

Select Invoice Mapping

What Invoice Mapping Does
Invoice Mapping connects:

Invoice components (such as totals, taxes, or items)
-
Accounting accounts used to record those amounts
When an invoice is created, SmartBooks applies this mapping automatically.
Configuring Invoice Mapping
To configure or update invoice mapping:

Open Invoice Mapping

Select the Invoice Type or Component
-
Select the Account to record the invoice amount
-
Save the mapping
Once saved, the mapping is applied to future invoices.
Updating Invoice Mapping
Update invoice mapping when:

Invoice structure changes
-
Accounting accounts are updated
-
New invoice components are introduced
Changes affect future invoice records only.
Important Notes

Invoice mapping applies across SmartBooks

Incorrect mapping can affect income and tax reports

Existing invoices are not recalculated automatically

Invoice creation logic is handled by billing modules
