Purpose
Credit Note Refund Mapping defines how refunds issued against credit notes are recorded into accounting accounts in SmartBooks.
This mapping ensures refunded amounts are posted correctly and reflected accurately in balances and reports.
How to Access

Go to SmartBooks

Click Settings
-
Open Mapping Setup

Select Credit Note Refund Mapping

What Credit Note Refund Mapping Does
This mapping connects:

Refund transactions related to credit notes
-
Accounting accounts used to record the refunded amounts
When a credit note refund is processed, SmartBooks applies this mapping automatically.
Configuring Credit Note Refund Mapping
To configure or update the mapping:

Open Credit Note Refund Mapping

Select the Refund Method or Type
-
Select the Account to record the refund
-
Save the mapping
The mapping applies to future credit note refunds.
Updating Mapping
Update this mapping when:

Refund methods change
-
Refund-related accounts are updated
-
Accounting structure is revised
Changes affect future refund records only.
Important Notes

Credit note refund mapping applies only to refund transactions

Incorrect mapping can affect cash, bank, or receivable balances
-
Existing refund records are not recalculated automatically
