Purpose

Consumable Mapping defines how consumable items are recorded into accounting accounts in SmartBooks.

This mapping ensures consumable usage and costs are posted correctly for expense tracking and reporting.

How to Access

  1. Go to SmartBooks

  2. Click Settings

  3. Open Mapping Setup

  4. Select Consumable Mapping

URL format:
https://app.thulo.com/{tenantname}/ps/admin/accounting/setting/mapping-setup

What Consumable Mapping Does

Consumable Mapping connects:

  • Consumable items

  • Accounting accounts used to record their costs

When consumables are used or recorded, SmartBooks applies this mapping to determine where the cost is posted.

Configuring Consumable Mapping

To configure or update consumable mapping:

  1. Open Consumable Mapping

  2. Select the Consumable Item

  3. Select the Account to record the cost

  4. Save the mapping

The mapping is applied automatically to future consumable-related records.

Updating Consumable Mapping

Update this mapping when:

  • New consumable items are added

  • Consumable expense accounts change

  • Accounting structure is updated

Changes affect future records only.

Important Notes

  • Consumable mapping applies across SmartBooks

  • Incorrect mapping can affect expense and inventory-related reports

  • Existing consumable records are not recalculated automatically

When to Configure This

  • During initial SmartBooks setup

  • Before recording consumable usage

  • When consumable-related reports show incorrect values
