Purpose
Consumable Mapping defines how consumable items are recorded into accounting accounts in SmartBooks.
This mapping ensures consumable usage and costs are posted correctly for expense tracking and reporting.
How to Access

Go to SmartBooks

Click Settings
-
Open Mapping Setup
-
Select Consumable Mapping

What Consumable Mapping Does
Consumable Mapping connects:

Consumable items
-
Accounting accounts used to record their costs
When consumables are used or recorded, SmartBooks applies this mapping to determine where the cost is posted.
Configuring Consumable Mapping
To configure or update consumable mapping:

Open Consumable Mapping
-
Select the Consumable Item
-
Select the Account to record the cost
-
Save the mapping
The mapping is applied automatically to future consumable-related records.
Updating Consumable Mapping
Update this mapping when:

New consumable items are added
-
Consumable expense accounts change
-
Accounting structure is updated
Changes affect future records only.
Important Notes

Consumable mapping applies across SmartBooks

Incorrect mapping can affect expense and inventory-related reports
-
Existing consumable records are not recalculated automatically
