Purpose

Income Statement Modification allows you to control how income and expense data is displayed in the income statement report.

This helps align report presentation with your accounting structure and reporting requirements.


How to Access

  1. Go to SmartBooks

  2. Click Settings

  3. Open Income Statement Modification

What Income Statement Modification Controls

This page allows you to:

  • Customize grouping of income and expense accounts

  • Control how accounts appear in the income statement

  • Adjust report structure without changing accounting data

These changes affect report presentation only.


Modifying the Income Statement

  1. Open Income Statement Modification

  2. Review the listed account groups

  3. Adjust grouping or placement as required

  4. Save the changes

The updated structure is reflected in income statement reports.


Important Notes

  • This feature affects reports only

  • Accounting records and balances are not changed

  • Changes apply immediately after saving

  • Only users with Settings access should modify this


When to Use This

  • When income statement layout does not match expectations

  • When reorganizing expense or income categories

  • Before generating financial reports for review or sharing
